Ground Cloths
Niobrara Reflection I (Section 003) (“Who will tell the river its path is incorrect”) Foiling, screen printing and hand embroidery on silk hand-dyed fabric [Arlee Barr]

These mixed media constructions respond to a particular location and reference the markings of the topo maps but they document what is unseen, invisible, remembered or imagined. Constructed with hand and machine quilting and embroidery, they incorporate surface design techniques such as screen printing and foiling. Ranging in size from 6” to 18” high, they fasten with magnets onto wooden bars and can be reversed to show the back.
